Kevin Gallagher's Omega guitars are a popular alternative to the Olson/Ryan/etc. fingerstyle-oriented instruments. This pre-owned Omega has been outfitted with quality electronics and comes with a barely used preamp and offers a very attractively priced opportunity to get into a high end handmade instrument that's ready to turn heads on stage at your next gig. As you might expect, this guitar's been played and enjoyed many times, and it shows. There is discoloration on the top, sevaral small dings in the pretty Adirondack top, a scrape on the back near the cutaway, and a small scratch on one side. The good news is that the previous owner is taking the financial hit from the wear and tear, and you get a guilt-free player's axe that's been played-in. For an adi-topped guitar, this Grand Concert model is very responsive. It's clearly braced with the fingerstyle player in mind, with a nice bass response and clarity up the neck. The abalone adds class, and the signature Omega design elements like the distinctive headstock and fretboard end make for a very pretty guitar. I find the wide neck and slim neck profile to be an ideal combination for comfortable playing. Wish I had a better player than myself to give this one a workout here so I could hear it live up its full potential! Kevin has had health problems limit his ability to build, so the Omega waiting list is quite long. This one could be on its way to you tomorrow.... |
